Mena Alexandra Suvari (born on 13 February 1979) is an American model and actress. She is also a fashion designer model. After beginning her career as a model she soon transitioned into acting after appearing in guest roles on 1990's TV shows like Boy Meets World and High Incident. The film debut came with the drama Nowhere, released in 1997. After her performances in American Beauty (for which she won the BAFTA Award) and American Pie which attracted her more attention, she made her transition into major roles. Following that, she starred as the main character on the screen in Sugar & Spice (2000) along with American Pie star Jason Biggs. The year 2002 saw her was a part in Spun the independent drama and in 2004's thriller Trauma. She also appeared in the HBO drama Six Feet Under in 2004 the show was awarded a nomination for an Best Cast of the 2005 Screen Actors Guild Awards. In 2008, she included in a variety of films, including Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh and the film adaptation to The Garden of Eden. Suvari has been featured on fashion blogs and in various magazines such as Vogue and Lancome Paris Adaptive print ads. She has long been a campaigner for and a supporter of the renowned African relief group, known as the African Medical and Research Foundation. Additionally, she is involved with issues of empowerment of women as well as charities which promote research into breast cancer and End Violence Against Women.
